The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) declared an indefinite strike at a meeting held at the University Of Education, Winneba on Wednesday following what they say is government’s delay to pay their 2014/2015 Book and Research allowances.

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) had declared an indefinite strike at a meeting held at the University Of Education, Winneba on Wednesday following the outstanding debt owned by the government. The government delayed to payment of their 2014/2015 Book and Research allowances has warranted this strike indefinitely.

The Association had vowed not to resume work until government pays members arrear. Furthermore, the National President of UTAG, Dr. Samuel Bekoe, indicated that government is yet to acknowledge numerous letters written over the allowances.

But the good news is that, the declaration of indefinite strike by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) cannot stop the reopening of the schools.

Therefore, Continuing and fresh students are therefore to take note and report to school.
