FIRM DONATES 10, 000 DIGITAL TEACHING GUIDES TO NIGERIAN TEACHERS
As part of its commitment to digital learning, Pearson Nigeria has announced plans to make available to Nigerian teachers, 10, 000 new digital teaching guides, which it hopes will go a long way in helping to demonstrate the power of technology in enhancing learning outcomes.
The guides will be available via the Pearson Nigeria websit
– www.pearsonnigeria.com- at no cost to interested registered teachers even as they provide quality resources to this number of teachers across the country.
The digital teacher guides are introduced to support Pearson’s leading numeracy and literacy titles for Nigerian schools, covering aspects of student texts, which include New General Mathematics for Primary Schools, New General Mathematics for Senior Secondary Schools, New General Mathematics for Junior Secondary Schools, Primary English Project, Junior English Project (for junior secondary schools) and Senior English Project (for senior secondary schools).
Each of these new guides have been fully revised and updated to comply with the Nigerian Educational Research Development Council (NERDC) curriculum, and have been designed using Pearson’s world-class content development capabilities.
The texts focus on embedding 21st Century skills in learners, preparing them not only for academic success, but also for long-term success in their workplaces.
“Guides such as these are not typically available free of charge, but Pearson Nigeria has committed to making them widely available as a way of exhibiting the benefits of digital technology in education,” said Managing Director, Pearson Nigeria, Muhtar Bakare.
He continued, “Technology is not a panacea to the problems Nigeria’s education system faces. However, when applied and used appropriately, educational technologies can have a very real, positive impact on teaching and learning outcomes, and in reducing the costs involved in delivering quality education.
We hope that by making these guides digitally available to a large number of Nigerian teachers, we can help them see the power of technology in enhancing the teaching process. These easily accessible guides will facilitate the planning and delivery of lessons and help teachers motivate their students to achieve at higher levels”.
The teacher guides accompanying the texts are pedagogical aids and instructional handbooks designed to ensure both teachers and learners utilise the full potential of the texts.
The guides will assist Nigerian educators to attain expected competency levels and learning outcomes by enhancing student engagement and concentration.
